I found this article pretty interesting. Its similar to one we have already discussed but It explained some new points I found relevant. It says that many restaurants are beginning to introduce lower-calorie items and advertise special fast-food diets. It seems recently many different fast food establishments have jumped on the diet-plan bandwagon along with Subway. Subway has been advertising Jared and his weight loss for years, and companies are beginning to see this is attracting a lot of customers. Now Taco Bell has a drive-thru diet. A study conducted shows that these types of advertisements and special menu items are attracting an entirely different demographic. Now, those who usually avoid fast food (often perceived as junk food) now see that eating at fast food restaurants can be healthy. Not only have these restaurants been attracting a new demographic, but by introducing healthy items they have also gained more positive opinion of their companies. In this recession, it is becoming more difficult for people to eat healthy, since many times it is more expensive. Now, with this new trend of healthier fast food, people are seeing a more affordable way to get quick, healthy and higher quality food.

  1. I think it's great that the QSR industry has jumped on the bandwagon. It's about time that they finally did something to counter the years of damage they have done to the American people. It gives me hope for big businessmen that they make actually have a heart, oh wait; this is just another trend to capitalize on. Never mind, let me revert back to my cynical point of view. I’m kidding. In all honesty it's good that people are making the effort to express their desires to be healthier. It gives me hope that there is future of our country that isn't stuck in a hospital bed. This however is just my opinion.

  2. I agree just like I said in the past I think healthier menu items in fast food restaurants are a great thing. Plus it would be dumb to not jump on this trend. The companies who don't serve healthy menu items could lose business to the restaurants that do
